Marla Jenniemae Nisski

January 2, 2004

My parents called me on Friday January 2, 2004 about 9 am. They wanted to meet us at Nagasaki for lunch. We thought it would be nice to get out of the house for awhile. I had just been working on my network and rebuilding some servers. Adj was taking the CDs out of the broken carousel. At 9:20 Adrienne called me with a little panic. I knew right then that their was going to be a birthday today. She called the doc and we went to see him. He said go home and wait until the contractions were 5 minutes apart. So we got to Nagasaki just a little after 12 and told Mom & Dad that we could not stay but they were welcome to stop by the house. At around 2:00 Adj's contractions was at 5 min apart. We left the house around 3ish.

Marla was born at 7:06 in room 370 at Ocean Medical Center assisted by Dr. Keelan with an APGAR score of 9.9 (10 is perfect). WWWOOOOOWWWWW what can I say. That was the most intense day of my life. I can't even put into words what we went through. Between Adrienne's cries of pain and the Doctor's saying "It's a girl" I just wanted to cry but Adrienne needed my strength to help her through the rest of the experience. We spent the night and the next day mostly recovering. I don't think Adj really got back to her old self until sometime in the afternoon. Of course Mom & Dad and Paul visited. It was nice to see them.

Marla is perfect. She is dark, quiet, and looks so concerned. She has the chubbiest cheeks and a dimple on her chin just like her mother.

Making sure everything is packed.

We just arrived at the maternity ward.

This is the monitor that they put on me to watch the baby's heartbeat and my contractions.

Getting an IV.

Checking the baby over.

She's all cleaned up.

Look how furry her ears are.

This is the alarm that they put on babies so that if anyone tries to leave the ward with one, the alarms go off and the doors lock.

The proud Daddy. I have never seen Mark look so happy, excited and tired all at the same time.

Dad and Marla are tired after a long night.

A bit later I am having a funny conversation with Gregg and feeling much better.

Rita, Al and Paul come by to see the new arrival.

Getting ready to visit the nursery.

Every day all babies are brought to the nursery to be seen by the pediatrician.

Visiting the nursery to get Marla's alarm removed so that we can bring her home.

It can be a little difficult to get the baby seat with the baby in it into the car.
Finally we are all home.
