My Bikes
Over the course of my life I have had several bikes. My first was a mini bike that my dad got me. It was red and had a lawnmower engine. One day my Dad talked my Mother into trying it and she flipped it in the street. I think she put too much weight in the back and gave it too much throttle. That was it for her on internal combustion bikes. Sometimes we would put it in the trunk and go to a highway they were building (route 18) in Neptune and make it go as fast as it could. I don't think that it went very fast (no gears, slip clutch). I really enjoyed that, something about the smell of burning gasoline on a hot summer day with your father.
My next bike was also a present from my Dad. A red Honda Enduro 100cc. Not a very big motorcycle but a real motorcycle! Oh yea, I loved that bike. There were a couple of other kids on the block with bikes like Howard, Ron, Mike, and Brad. We would push them down the street and go riding out in the woods along the fire trails and powerlines of the Jersey Pine Barons. Man we had fun getting muddy and challenging each other.
Nowadays I'm riding a 93 Honda Shadow 1100. It's a great bike. Each year I try to take a trip. This year it's up to Lake George for Americade. The year before it was down to the Smoky Mountains for a week of riding. Click For Some Pics
A perfect day for me is to get up on a hot summer morning, have coffee and a light breakfast in the backyard under the trees, fire up the bike and cruise over to the beach for a dip and cook in the sun for awhile then, out to lunch at a seaside café then, home for a lateday cat nap then, out to the movies and dinner. Man that's paradise.
